Bee Favorite Plants

Bee Favorite Plants

Bee favorite plants for bee lovers. Attract bees to the veg garden by inter-mixing high nectar annual bee favorite plants, along with perennial native plants bee favorite plants and you can't go wrong! Bees will adore your landscape!

Butterfly Favorite Plants

Butterfly Favorite Plants

Adult Butterflies and moth need high nectar plants to survive. These plants are butterflies and moth favorite plants! You will find that packing in both high nectar annuals, and high nectar native plants will attract, and feed droves of butterflies and moths. Plant both, for maximum support and extend the blooming period.

Hummingbird Favorite Plants

Hummingbird Favorite Plants

Hummingbird plants can easily be identified by their shapes! Long tubular flowers are a favorite hummingbird plant as the throats are deep enough for a hummingbird to access. Ohio has hummingbirds that migrate here, so high nectar native plants like Cardinal Flower and Royal Catchfly are a native favorite! Pack in annuals maximum hummingbird support.

Native Vines

Native Vines

Ohio has many straight species native vines! Some are fragrant as well as host plants and they feed a plethora of wildlife as well pollinators.

Plants over 5ft tall

Plants over 5ft tall

There are many native plants like Grey-headed Coneflower that are over 5ft tall. Bring the glory to the back of your flowers or create a tall prairie!

Native Plants

Native Plants

Perennial and biennial plants that are native to the United States and most of mine are specifically Ohio native plants that feed and sustain Ohio wildlife.

Annuals

Annuals

Annual plants are seasonal plants that are usually naturally growing in places outside of the United States. Annuals are beloved by pollinators and fill the void of transitioning native plants and can extend the blooming season and food sources by weeks!

High Nectar Plants

High Nectar Plants

Adult bees and insects rely on nectar as their primary food source - not pollen. These plants rate high on the nectar scale.

Host Plants

Host Plants

Host plants are native plants, trees, or shrubs that are a food source for larval caterpillars of butterflies and moths. Host plants can also be annual herbs! Feeding larval caterpillars requires STRAIGHT species native plants. Cultivars, that are listed as "native" won't feed larval caterpillars.
